Edited images and what it means

Edited is what? It’s such a photographer term and I’ve been know to throw that term around without explaining. I’m sorry about that.

Let me explain, I shoot in RAW instead of JPEG. Most people know what JPEG is since it’s universal, but RAW are a more muted larger file. They are wonderful and have more definition in the lights and darks, but that also means they look muddier and not as vibrant when straight out of the camera. As you’ve probably figured out my style is bright and vibrant, so the RAW file needs to be edited in lightroom to get that look. I feel the post processing of the images is a huge reason why you’re hiring me!

Nicoletta and Thane are wed :: Michelle’s Ballroom :: Chicago wedding

Saturday was GORGEOUS! Such a perfect day for Nicoletta and Thane’s wedding. They have been together for over fifteen years and how comfortable and adorable they are together shows the years of love! With such beautiful weather we were able to go to some of my favorite Chicago locations like Olive Park, Art Institute Gardens and Union Station.

They chose the most amazing venues for photography from the W Hotel to Michelle’s ballroom. Not too surprising since Nicoletta and Thane do wedding photography and video! I’ve worked with both of them and I couldn’t have been more touched to be asked to photograph their big day.

Colorful Chicago Carnivale Wedding :: Amanda and Tim are married

Happy anniversay to two AMAZING people! It’s been a year and it feels like their wedding was yesterday. We had absolutely perfect weather BOTH days! Amanda and Tim are my first couple to book a serperate day before their wedding to do the formals all around Chicago. It was so much fun and made for a relaxed wedding day! We did a cute first look on the prewedding day and they had that walking down the isle moment on the actual wedding day. It was wonderful.

I LOVE Carnivale! I can’t shout that enough. It was bright and colorful and fit Amanda and Tim perfectly. The day also went smoothly because of Lindsay Green Weddings & Events. I’m always excited to work a wedding with a planner because you know the stress is off the bride and groom. Lindsay was there as the day of coordinator and that is a wonderful alternative too! Those gorgeous flowers are thanks to Pistil & Vine.

Holly is 9 months :: Exner Marsh portrait session

Holly is 9 months and isn’t she just the cutest! Her 1st birthday theme is picnic and she definitely knew how to work the set. These are going to make the most adorable invitations too! Exner Marsh in the spring is so vibrant and green and made for a beautiful background, but allowed the focus to be all about Holly.

Randall Oaks Golf Course :: Liz and Nick :: West Dundee Wedding

Congratulations Liz and Nick! That was a love filled day and so adorable to capture. Other than the rain it was perfect and I think it bothered me more than anyone else since Randall Oaks Golf Course has lovely grounds. It is said that rain is good luck! I loved their entire ceremony and hearing again about how they met (another wonderful online start just like how I met my husband) and about Nick’s proposal. It makes for a beautiful personalized ceremony that gets everyones hearts bursting with love including mine.

They also know how to have an amazing party after. The caricature artist, Roger Hurtado, was a hit and they rocked out to some amazing music from DJ Marty B.
