Ravenswood Event Center Bar Mitzvah

This is long overdue, but here’s Zachary’s Bar Mitzvah photos. Talk about a gorgeous and fun Bar Mitzvah at Ravenswood Event Center and Temple Sholom was just beautiful and made for some epic shots. I’ve shot several weddings at Ravenswood, but it was also an awesome space for a Bar Mitzvah. Zachary wasn’t so much the party animal, but that’s where picking the right DJ/Entertainment comes in because those games definitely were lots of fun.

I’m not going to lie, my favorite pic is Zachary giving his sister crazy eyes when she was hugging him. Still makes me giggle!

Vernon Hills family portrait session

Happy first birthday Nora! It’s been so amazing to capture Megan and Karl’s engagement session and then their growing family. I’m a little late to the game blogging about this because they now have another little adorable addition. That will come later though 🙂

This is my second session using Arbortheater in Vernon Hills and both sessions were just beautiful. Here’s the other session.

It is great for families because there are so many options in a small area to keep the kiddos moving and attentive. I’m always looking for more sites like that!

What’s the best time of year for a portrait session?

There’s no perfect time of year for a session because all of them have their pros and cons. I actually love all of them for different reasons, so keep reading to find out why!

WINTER:

Snow!!! All that snow makes colors pop like the teal blanket. It’s a great season for some outdoor fun if you like the cold. Some great things to do with the kiddos during a winter session are snowball fights, snow angels and hot chocolate! Snow can help create a dreamy effect that’s just beautiful. It’s also a great time of year to do an indoor session. Using your home makes for a special backdrop, but I’m always happy to bring a small backdrop too.

SPRING:

Spring is beautiful and fresh. Everything is starting to bloom, but not yet super saturated with green trees and grass. Just like winter colors pop and the top and bottom images show what a cloudy vs sunny day look like. They are also March vs April too! There are also some great flowers that only bloom during spring to make use of.

Penny wasn’t too excited about her flower crown, but isn’t it just adorable???

SUMMER:

Green!!! Summer is all about being green, bright and happy. It’s one of my favorites times because the fields are full of different wild flowers. There are so many great locations to use in the summer like Lake Geneva, forest preserves or cute towns. I’m itching to use a waterfall I found in Elgin that isn’t far off the path and easy for kiddos.

FALL:

Fall is the most popular time of year for family photos. The fall colors can be beautiful and the cooler weather makes it easy to use great accessories like boots and scarves. I’m all for it, but my only concerns with fall is the tempermental weather and sometimes the fall folliage is unpredictable. October is gorgeous, but definitely fickle since sometimes it’s rainy and cold and other times like the last picture it was close to 80.

So make sure you look around your house and decide what colors are going to go great on your walls and that can make choosing a time easier. I’m always happy to help too!

Brianne Bradbury Photography introduces Enhanced Canvas

I’m so excited to announce another service I offer called Enhanced Canvas. It takes two things I’m passionate about, photography and painting, and brings them together. It all started because I’m quality control for my clients and I needed a set of canvases reprinted and didn’t know what to do with the extras. I’ve been wanting to paint again for a while, so it was the perfect opportunity and I have to say that I’m in love with the outcome. Here’s my other blog entry called prints for life and why custom art is the way to go.

After bringing some fall color into the above print, I decided to take my family portrait from last year and go with a more surreal enhanced art option! I’ve always been inspired by Van Gogh and his use of color if you can’t tell 😉  This is going to be amazing in our living room to enjoy. I’d love to hear what you think, so leave some love below!

Lake Geneva Family Portrait Session

It’s always an honor to be asked by another photographer to shoot their family. This amazing family goes to Lake Geneva every year and it’s adorable. I know Ingrid professionally and it’s been such a priveledge to get to know her parents, sister and both their families. I’ve even photographed other family events and I’ll blog that later 🙂

I do love to use Lake Geneva as a background. This will be the third year getting to know everyone and the second that we did early on a Sunday morning before their boat tour brunch. Yum! If I can force Steve, my husband, out of bed early then we love walking around downtown and grabbing breakfast before heading home too. Definitley a great place to visit!
