Rustic Chic Crystal Lake Backyard Wedding

Have you ever met a couple and thought they are doing it right? Stephanie and Ken are adorable, crass, chill, loving and happy. It was so nice to meet them and their wedding was absolutely stunning. They were planning to do a destination wedding until they thought of where they are the happiest and that’s on the porch looking at the sunset. So low and behold they did a rustic chic backyard wedding.

The weather was absolutely perfect and the sunset took my breath away. The ceremony was under their favorite tree at sunset. Perfection.

Holiday card session with the adorable Sami

I can’t believe how big Sami has gotten. It was ony two years ago that I was photographing a newborn for their family holiday cards! This year I brought over a black backdrop and some fun items and this little ham was hilarious. He ended up throwing the ordaments and I think the one in the air is my favorite. I even added an outtake from a rogue ornament. Thankfully since he was so great we were able to walk over to the park and get just a couple of fall pictures too. Arlington Heights if full of lots of different local parks! Thankfully Sahand and Gabi let Sami be a two year old and have fun. I love getting holiday cards and creating them is just as fun. I included a couple of my favorite mockups for them too.

Fall Crystal Lake Family Portrait Session

It was COLD!!! Oh so cold, but this amazing family braved the cold and we had a blast at Veteran’s Acres in Crystal Lake. Athena wanted a park with a bridge and I love the versatility of Veteran’s Acres and so did she. At their reveal and order session (learn what that is here) we came up with that beautiful wall display and above the images will be a Family sign. I can’t wait to get the two wood prints and mounted prints. It is going to be amazing.

The only problem was keeping Zander and Zack away from each other, but some of the best smiles were hidden pinches. haha.

Sarah’s surprise Evanston proposal!

Oh man it was so difficult to keep this a secret. Sarah had planned this proposal for months and Alex didn’t know what hit her. It was their three year anniversary and Sarah had told Alex she couldn’t fly in until the day after their anniversary. Sarah is an active duty marine stationed in North Carolina (thank you so much for your service!!!), so she planned an entire day for Alex including the spa and a tour of First United Methodist Church in Evanston. It just so happened Sarah was waiting in the gorgeous chapel for Alex. I got to hang with Sarah beforehand and she was so nervous. More about having had to lie to Alex than anything else, but hearing their story of love brought tears to my eyes.

The proposal was MAGICAL! Alex was so surprised and her only regret was not dressing up since she was wearing her spa clothes. I think she looks adorable though 🙂

Also on a side note, shhhh it’s a surprise should never be a hashtag… I won’t make that mistake again.

Gladys and Jorge’s Elgin Wedding

Gladys and Jorge had such a beautiful intimate wedding. I was only there for two hours, but what a wonderful two hours it was. They had several of their nearest and dearest with them to witness their nuptuals. Vineyard church of Elgin was so wonderful and accomadating for them too. It may have been small, but looks at those gorgeous smiles and how beautiful Gladys looked. You can’t tell, but a huge snow storm came just as we were leaving the church, but it held off for some pictures outside.
